Great honour for HYFLEXPOWER
HYFLEXPOWER has received the COGEN Europe Recognition Award 2023 for the Technology & Innovation category. The COGEN Europe Recognition Awards provide an opportunity for individuals and organisations to gain recognition for their achievements in developing, applying, and promoting cogeneration and to highlight the strengths and skills of Europe’s cogeneration sector.
The award acknowledges HYFLEXPOWER’s dedication to delivering environmentally friendly solutions that reduce carbon emissions and promote a greener future.
“Ambitious projects like HYFLEXPOWER, demonstrating an integrated power-to-H₂-to-power real-world application, require taking partnerships to the next level and being united in a joint mission to make decarbonisation a reality. Hydrogen will be essential in the interaction between renewables and electricity storage and generation, with hydrogen-ready turbines playing a decisive role”, said HYFLEXPOWER coordinator Ertan Yilmaz of Siemens Energy.
In addition, Harry Trump of HYFLEXPOWER partner Centrax Gas Turbines has received the COGEN Europe Lifetime Achievement Award for his active involvement in COGEN Europe over many years and especially his contribution to the association’s advocacy efforts at EU level.
About HYFLEXPOWER
HYFLEXPOWER develops the world’s first fully integrated industrial-scale power-to-H₂-to-power demonstrator. The project is updating and enhancing an existing power plant within an industrial facility in Saillat-sur-Vienne, France. The project includes the integration of energy conversion (power-to-H₂) in the demonstration plant using excess energy from RES and necessary storage capabilities. The plant’s existing Siemens Energy gas turbine is upgraded to operate with different natural gas / H₂ fuel mixtures up to 100% H₂ for carbon-free power generation. More information available at www.hyflexpower.eu. HYFLEXPOWER is funded by the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme under grant agreement No. 884229.
