While Twitter started out as an opinion-sharing platform for a few insiders, the short messaging service is now recognized even by traditional media outlets. The communication work packages of EU-funded research and innovation projects are now hard to imagine without Twitter: consortia use the medium to increase project visibility, network, promote events and announce research results.
