It was my enthusiasm for cross-disciplinary topics and research that inspired me to study Molecular Biotechnology. The study was very broad and therefore provided insight into many different disciplines. It showed very clearly that interdisciplinary collaboration in research is extremely important to solve problems that cannot be solved by one person or discipline due to their complexity. My PhD in biomedical sciences and my postdoc in biophysics further exposed me to brilliant minds and their fascinating ideas. Even though I realized that I did not want to be in the lab for the rest of my life, it was important for me to stay close to top-level research professionally.
